Living Sober Online started during Covid when the Alano Club of the East Side (Bellevue, WA) was closed for safety concerns. Our inaugural online meeting was on March 17th 2020. After covid restrictions were lifted the in-person group started to convene again, for a while the groups shared the same service officers (secretary, treasurer, etc) however on 12/1/2022 group conscious split the in person and online groups into two separate AA entities to expand service officer positions for both groups. This has worked well and both sides thrive – we still gather together once a month on birthday/coin day and share in our joint history. For donations we still dissect the online 7th tradition distribution and offer half of the after expenses donations to the Alano Club as we no longer pay rent to utilize the facilities daily (we pay zoom). Since inception we have evolved from a simple start of collecting the 7th tradition via Venmo and a POBox to include google pay, cashapp and offer a full website experience housing approved AA literature, service calendars, events and much more. We continue to meet 7 days a week, hold a business meeting monthly and have in person events numerous times throughout the year. Our typical meeting size is regularly 30-60 people per day and are monthly cash contributors to GSO as well as our Area and District offices. To learn more, please consider attending a business meeting.
